"What do I need to get started?"

As a minimum, you will need at least one CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) camera and something on which to display the camera images. This could be a monitor or a TV set (providing you have "video in" jacks).

If you wish to record images, you will need at least a VCR. CCTV Cameras can be Black and White (B/W) or color. The differences in cameras are explained on the Security Cameras page.

Camera lenses have a major bearing on the field of view of the CCTV camera. In varying light conditions, an auto-iris lens is probably needed. Vari-Focal (manual zoom) and power zoom lenses are also available.

More than 1 or 2 CCTV cameras require more complex equipment - traditionally a splitter or multiplexer (enable multiple cameras to connect to one recording/display port) and a time-lapse VCR for recording, as well as a display monitor.

However, with today's Video Capture Boards (add-in boards for computers) and Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), the multiplexing is performed by the video capture board, recording is done on the computer hard disk and camera images are displayed on the computer monitor. Recording need not be continuous but can be accomplished only when motion is present in a camera field, at pre-set times or on receipt of a signal from an alarm system.

Remote users can dial-in via modem, access over a Local Area Network or over the Internet. Now you can observe and control camera views as they are happening! You can see what is going on in any part of your business when you are at home or in other areas of your business. You can even access previously recorded videos.

Advances in technology offer greater benefits and functions than the traditional methods of multiplexing, recording and display - benefits that are often less costly than those provided by traditional video surveillance equipment.

Here’s some basic information that is useful to consider as you undertake to process of potty training toddlers.

FACT:
Expect that your toddler will master the feat of going ‘Number One’ before fully mastering the task of ‘Number Two.’ This is simply because:
•The physical process takes more time and requires your child to sit still longer than his or her attention span generally lasts;
•Sometimes discomfort or pain occurs during a bowel movement, and this might temporarily discourage a toddler from trying again because he or she associates the discomfort with sitting on the toilet.

POTTY TRAINING ADVICE:
When your toddler becomes too fidgety and won’t sit still long enough to have a bowel movement, try sitting alongside him or her while reading a book about the potty training experience. If your child has been avoiding the task of Number Two, it may be due to some previously experienced discomfort. Why not try letting him or her use a different potty? 1. Mummification – Has the beloved family pet last day come and gone. Why not preserve Fluffy as a mummy and keep him around for awhile? Just wrap him up in those plastic bags you’ve been holding on to, and find a good spot for him in the back yard! Those bags take hundreds of years to decompose, and so will Fluffy! Our country’s landfills have been holding on to these bags for years and they are only just beginning to leech chemicals into the soil.

What You Need to Know About Drying Roses

But there are ways to let their splendor live on! With very little effort and very little expense, dried roses can look just as exquisite when put together in an arrangement as fresh.

Rose Drying Techniques

Air drying and sand drying are two common rose drying techniques. Air drying is easiest and requires only a good pair of shears, some wire, a coat hanger and a dark dry location. Begin by cutting the stem from the rose, as close to the head of the rose as you can get. Then insert a piece of wire about 6 or 8 inches long into the rose head.

When drying roses they need to be upside down, so take the end of one wire and wrap it around the bottom part of the hanger. Continue wrapping the wires of each rose until the hanger is full. Leave some space in between each rose head so air can circulate. Then place the hanger into a dark, dry area (an unused closet works great). It'll take roses anywhere from 1 – 3 weeks to dry thoroughly.

Roses can also be hung in bunches upside down from a nail. Just leave stems intact, remove bottom leaves, gather a few stems together and hold with an elastic band. Place in a dark, dry area until dry.

The sand rose drying technique takes a bit more effort, but works great! You cut a rose while it's still at its peak, and cut the stem so that about one inch remains. Make sure the leaves and stem are dry (no dew or other water). Place florist's wire into the stem and up into the head of the flower. Next find a deep open box and begin filling it with white-colored sand until the roses can stand upright in the sand.

Next carefully begin adding sand around the base, and under and over each of the petals. The goal is to use the sand as a way to maintain the shape of the rose. Continue filling the box with sand until each rose is covered. Move sand-and-rose filled box to a drying area and leave it there for 1 – 3 weeks. Take extreme care when removing dried roses. Slowly tip the box to begin emptying sand. Grab onto each rose as it becomes free of the sand and continue until all roses are sand-free.

Roses can also be dried using wax, glycerin or a desiccant but these techniques are a bit more involved. Another popular drying method is to place a rose between the pages of a book.

Dried roses have many uses. They're perfect in floral arrangements, decorative wreaths, wedding bouquets and favors, and framed artwork. Dried rose petals make great potpourri and confetti, too!

Once a file or files have been deleted; assess how valuable those files are to you. How much time did it take to create? How much money did you use creating it, or how much money was it making you? Do the resources still exist to recreate the file? Once you have answered these questions set a limit to how much time and money you will spend trying to recover the file information. Often times once you get started searching for a file it can be difficult to stop. Keep in mind that even if the file is found, it may be corrupt and therefore unusable.

The first step to finding deleted files is to check the Recycle Bin, or Trash for Macintosh users. If your file is listed in the Recycle Bin restoration is simple. If you are not so lucky, try a data recovery software program or a human specialist. When working with a specialist, tell them everything you know about the files lost. Were they text or photo files? What kind of file was it (TIFF, PDF, etc)? What did the file contain? The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for the specialist to locate the file. Keep in mind text files and small files are much easier to recover successfully than photo files or large files.

If your entire hard drive is lost you have fewer and more expensive options. If parts of your hard drive have broken, such as the aperture arm or platters, try running a data recovery software program. If that is not successful you will need to bring the hard drive to a specialist. Using highly trained skills and the known filing structure and formats, a specialist can generally recover your data. If not, he can at least rebuild your hard drive so you are not without a computer. Any recovery specialist will be costly and require payment even if the drive was not recovered.

To avoid these types of situations, back up important files (or your entire hard drive) using disks, USBs, CDs or a server. Even having two of the same file in the same place will help you if you accidentally delete a file. Backing up files will take you much less time and cost much less money than a data recovery solution, so plan ahead and back it up!

Restoring the file from the Recycle Bin is simple. You can restore it directly from the Recycle Bin, move the file to the desktop for restoration, or open the file and resave it.

If the Recycle Bin or Trash does not have your file, look throughout the computer for a back up. The back up could have been manually created by you, or automatically created by your computer. If you are in a network, look through the server’s files for your missing file. If you find a backup, be thankful and resave the file.

If at this point you still have not been able to find the file, you will likely need to start spending some money. Be sure to consider how much time and money the lost file is worth. If it is not much, now would be a good time to cut your losses and recreate the file. If the file was one of a kind, not redo able, find a file recovery system program or hire a human recovery specialist. These specialists understand the ways of a computer and where it puts things; but will not be inexpensive.

If you lost your entire hard drive (this may or may not have activated the blue screen of death), first take a deep breathe and let it out. Secondly, use the disk repair program included with Microsoft and Macintosh software. If the software disk does not help, move onto a disk repair program purchased from another company. Your last choice is to have a specialist come in, or bring the hard drive in to try and recover as much information as possible. This option will be costly with no guarantee of success. Once you go through this process once, there is the guarantee that you will not want to do it again.

When installing a file recovery program, use the program from its installation device to avoid accidentally rewriting any of your files. Lastly, try to install this program before you have lost files. The likelihood of recovering lost files greatly increases if the program is installed ahead of time.
